Since Fall 2023, Friends of Westwood Parkland has been in a legal battle with the City of Westwood, fighting for citizens' rights — as detailed in Kansas law — to bring the selling of Joe D. Dennis Park to a public vote. We racked up quite the legal bills fighting the City to obtain our (given) right to vote. The City has spent over $150,000 from the taxpayers' purse to try to avoid a vote; our group's pockets are not nearly as deep.
